on making the most of cozy season 🍂

There is something about fall that makes me want to slow down a little, make home feel extra cozy, and find more reasons to enjoy the season. It's the time of year when the candles come out, the evenings get a little slower, and even the simplest things feel a bit more special.

This week in The Sunday Edit, we're talking about making the most of cozy season—in our homes, our everyday routines, and a little getaway close to home.

01. THE HOME EDIT

A few simple ways to make home feel like fall.

You don't need to redecorate your entire house every time the seasons change. Sometimes, it's the smallest things that make the biggest difference.

Start with your lighting. Turn off the overhead lights when you can, switch on a few lamps, and let your home feel a little softer in the evenings. Good lighting changes everything.

Find your fall scent. A candle burning in the entryway or living room can make your home feel instantly more inviting. I love the idea of choosing a signature scent for the season—something that feels warm, familiar, and uniquely yours.

Bring in a little texture. Think cozy throws, linen pillows, a woven basket, or a few natural elements that make a room feel layered without adding clutter. You don't need a whole new room; just a few thoughtful changes.

And one little reminder? Stop saving the good things for special occasions. Light the candle, use the pretty dishes, and make an ordinary Tuesday feel a little more special. Your home is meant to be lived in and enjoyed.

02. THE LIFE EDIT

Your fall bucket list.

Fall always seems to fly by, so consider this your nudge to make a little room for the things that make the season fun.

A few ideas to get you started:

  • Visit a pumpkin patch or spend an afternoon carving pumpkins.

  • Bake something seasonal and fill your house with the best kind of fall smell.

  • Plan a Friendsgiving, even if it's just a few friends around your kitchen table.

  • Take a scenic drive and enjoy the changing leaves.

  • Plan a cozy movie night with blankets, popcorn, and absolutely no other plans.

  • Start a little fall tradition of your own—something you can look forward to every year.

You don't have to do it all. Pick a couple of things that sound fun and put them on the calendar. Sometimes the best memories happen when we make a little space for them.

03. THE TRAVEL EDIT

A little fall getaway to Midway, Utah.

If you're looking for a little seasonal escape without traveling too far, Midway is such a lovely place to spend a fall day or weekend.

Take a drive along the Alpine Loop to enjoy the golden aspens (always check seasonal road conditions before heading out), stop by the Owl Bar at Sundance for a cozy drink, and make time for wood-fired pizza at Café Galleria.

If shopping is more your speed, wander through Haven Haus for home finds, or stop by the Ballerina Farm Farm Store. And if you can stretch your visit into a weekend, consider a stay at Homestead Resort so you can slow down and enjoy a little more time away.

My favorite kind of getaway is one that leaves room to wander, discover something new, and enjoy the moment without a packed itinerary. Sometimes a change of scenery is all you need.

A LITTLE NOTE BEFORE YOU GO 🤎

You don't have to do more, buy more, or plan something extravagant to make a season feel special. Sometimes it's a candle burning at home, an afternoon spent with people you love, or a little drive somewhere beautiful.

That's what The Sunday Edit is all about: finding inspiration for a home you love, a life you enjoy, and places worth exploring.
